Help Me / Display last.fm scrobble/now playing
« on: May 07, 2022, 11:36:12 AM »
Perhaps a bit of a long shot but does anyone know if it's possible to display the song I'm currently playing, as fetched from last.fm to which it's being scrobbled, in a layout cell?

I know that it's possible to pull this information from the last.fm api in the form of an html display but I don't know how to use this information in any meaningful way.

Help Me / Refresh stats at end of tournament?

I strongly suspect the answer to this is no but is it possible either directly or by workaround to refresh the stats automatically at the end of the tournament?

Templates, Layouts and Sounds / Insert calculated starting BBs
« on: December 28, 2021, 01:53:25 PM »
This is something I assumed was possible until I started trying to implement it, and it seems it isn't, or I'm missing something.

What I want to do is have a cell display the number of big blinds that a starting stack comprises, eg. the starting stack is 20,000 and the first big blind is 100 so the starting stack is 200BB.

At first I used (<buyinChips>/bigBlind round="1">) but this just displays that text string (which I realised is the obvious expected behaviour.

Next I tried making a token with the same string but this doesn't work either.

Is there a way to do this? I could do it manually if course but I'd quite like it to calculate automatically.

Cheers

Help Me / Table balance event does not fire
« on: September 20, 2021, 12:52:21 PM »
I've made a new event, trigger is A table balance is suggested with no conditions.

In testing, I mloaded 2 tables with players and busted them out until they became unbalanced. I expected the event to fire at the moment a player is busted from one table causing the tables to become unbalanced, in turn causing a suggested movement, but when I make thata bust nothing happens.

On the control screen the table balance switches from YES to NO, and the suggest movement turns red, which I thought meant my condition for triggering the event had been met. What am I missing?

Help Me / Event message image alignment
« on: September 03, 2021, 03:47:35 AM »
In an event message, player images seem to align to the bottom while custom images align to the top.

For example, if I use the same image twice side by side, first using <playerimage> and second using <image path="C:\...jpg"> they will be misaligned.

Any way to change this?

Templates, Layouts and Sounds / Sounds

Thanks to everyone who has posted sounds over the years, they've been a great resource for my tournaments since I started using TD. I thought it was about time I shared some of my own  :)

Help Me / Stretch doesn't fit template to screen
« on: December 30, 2020, 12:52:01 PM »
I'm having some trouble with the stretch function on screen properties. First I designed a layout on a laptop (1366 x 768), then I connected the laptop to the widescreen TV I use in the card room (1920 x 1080) using an HDMI cable and dragged the main screen over to the second display and went into fullscreen. Everything seemed a little bit off - I had expected things to just scale and, well, stretch to fill the screen, and while the cells themselves did, all the font properties I'd used needed to be increased to look more like the original display. Now I've disconnected the laptop from the TV the main screen is too big for the screen (the bottom is cut off). I had a similar issue with the fonts when switching between a 4k widescreen and 1920 widescreen.

Is there anything I can do about this? I suppose it's not a major issue, but it means every time I want to do anything with a layout I have to connect it to the specific TV I'll be using, otherwise it won't fit or the fonts will be the incorrect size.

Help Me / Rounding Prizes without any leftovers?
« on: December 28, 2020, 01:24:40 PM »
Is it possible to round prizes in any way whilst ensuring there isn't any leftovers (either positive or negative)?

I saw this thread from 2009 while searching and whilst it does provide a workaround that involves some intervention by the user I'm wondering if anything has changed in the time since that allows rounding without any leftovers at all.

Until discovering TD I have used "Poker Timer" app on an ipad and rounding, for example, to the nearest 5, never leaves any leftovers. I don't know how it chooses who to round up and who to round down but it allows the user to simply set the rounding amount and know that all the payouts will never be more or less than the total pot.

Help Me / Bounties and Prizes issue
« on: December 19, 2020, 05:44:36 PM »
Used TD for the first time last night and ran into my first issue. Basically the summary and stats pages don't seem to be adding the bounties to the prizes correctly.

Info
Buy-in: 15
Bounty: 5
Rebuys: allowed. 15, no bounty included, limited to 1 player each.
Prizes: 1st 60% - 2nd 30% - 3rd - 10%

Prize pot: 215
Bounty pot: 45

1st won 4 bounties and kept his own
2nd won 1 bounty
3rd won 3 bounties

The Prize panel displays the correct prize money:
1st = 215 * 0.6 = 129.00
2nd = 215 * 0.3 = 64.50
3rd = 215 * 0.1 = 21.50

With the bounties that should be
1st = 129 + 25 = 154.00
2nd = 64.50 + 5 = 69.50
3rd = 21.50 + 15  = 36.50

However, the summary and stats pages show the following payouts:
1st: 169.00
2nd: 64.50
3rd: 26.50

So the software didn't award any bounties to 2nd place, only 1 bounty to 3rd place and 8 to 1st place.

What am I missing or doing wrong?

General Discussion / Hello and thank you!
« on: December 17, 2020, 10:10:24 AM »
Didn't know where else to post this but I just wanted to say after a couple of years of using an ipad app to run my tournaments I finally downloaded The Tournament Director to see what all the fuss was about. Well, I think you can safely say I am converted  :D

I have spent the last few days exploring the software and reading the manual and while I'm sure there is a hell of a lot I've yet to learn (the versatility and customisations available are like nothing I've seen before) I've more or less got to grips with the basics and plan on using it to run a tournament tomorrow evening.

Now that I have a TV in the "Poker Shack" The Tournament Director seems like the perfect tool for me to take my hosting to the next level.

So.. thanks! I will definitely be buying a licence once my trial runs out and look forward to learning more about the software here on the forums  :)
